I bought a Icom to put in the car to get some HF while traveling for work. The failures were while mounted on the rear bumper of a pick up which may subject it to more wind resistance than if it were installed on a car. Thanks for the note as I thought it was just my resonator that was defective.
Description:I would be very surprised if any other loaded mobile antenna could produce more feild strength to produce incresed signal strength on an S-meter when properly compared. AA4PB, could you explain to me how this works? He did mention that they were aware of the problem and have changed their design to avoid the problem…. The radiation resistance with most mobile HF antennas is poor! Remember, I'd stopped using my high-power one.
